Types of Inpatient Rehab Centers

When seeking out an inpatient rehab for substance abuse, people often need a hand in understanding what their options are and which one(s) might be best for their situation.

Whenever possible, many experts recommend that people struggling with addictions attend treatment programs in a residential setting. These inpatient rehabs come in all shapes, sizes, locations, costs and lengths of time.
Here are a few types of programs that are generally available in most states. In addition to these, there are also dozens of well-known and respected therapy methods used during the rehabilitation process.

Long-Term Inpatient

It wasn’t that long ago that nearly every treatment program was only a month long. Today there are more and more centers that offer extended treatment that goes well beyond 30 days. Some-long-term programs could be 60, 90, 120, 180 days or more.

Gender-Specific Treatment

More evidence continues to emerge about the benefits of providing gender-specific therapies and treatments. Some facilities are coed with separate parts of their campus designated for males or females, while there are also programs available that are women-only or men-only centers.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Substance abuse and mental health research has identified the need to treat all of the symptoms at the same time. Co-occurring disorders should have an additional level of urgency to receive quality care.
